To accomplish our quality
and productivity objectives, we use adequate crop ratios for each
different variety of oils, from 400 plants per hectare, to
2200 plants per hectare. The clonal varieties used for very intensive growing are
Arberquina, Arbosana and Korineiki. For intensive growing, the kinds
used are Frantoio, Leccino and Picual, types recognized for their
organoleptic characteristics and high amounts of fatty acids, which
are needed for the production of high quality olive oil. Our plantations
in the very intensive growing system represent 90% of the total planted
crops. The remaining 10% correspond to Italian varieties in intense
growing mode.
Our estates of “San Mariano” and “Las Damas”
are located at a 30km distance from each other.
Nevertheless, the shorter
distance between “Las Damas” and the
coast implies some important agro-climatic differences with relation
to “San Mariano”.
This variability allows us to elaborate olive oil of higher complexity
in terms of aroma, bitterness, and spiciness through the formulation
of different mixtures using the varieties and production areas.
Our plantations are handled having great dedication and care for the
environment. All crops have automated irrigation, deep wells, soil
drainage and the water needed for the projected plantation.
MONTEOLIVO, Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our oils are produced based on our own first-rate olives of diverse varieties such as Arbequina, Arbosana, Korinenki, Leccino, Frantoio and Picual.
